AS ARUKA AND I TRAVELED through space, I felt a bump in my heart regarding Jen, not calling for me really, just a feeling. It was brief though, so likely evoked by my concern. Iâd check in on her later.
Aruka caught on fast to the dynamics of space travel. A few months back when the Dragons were tricking her into believing she could co-rule the Dragon worlds with me, they taught her a few things. She even grew beyond requiring the protection Iâd encased her in when we set out.
I no longer touched her; she remained close to my side on her own, lost in the wonders of the cosmos. We had attuned our molecular make-up to whatever elements we traveled through, harnessing dark energy to move us along. Glancing at Aruka from time to time, she seemed stunned with awe absorbing the new experience, her usual yakking mouth out of commission.
Once she mastered going through wormholes, which is quite tricky in Tazmark form, she began to enjoy the sights. As we entered the Draco constellation, our forms began changing from Tazmark to Dragon. Though our clothes would just blow off, we magically shed them to ease the process. Tazmarks do not have a lick of modesty. The closer we drew to our worlds, the denser we became, turning into who we really were.
Aruka and Dian were right, Tazmarks were too much for earth, and earth was not enough for us. What we all really needed was to take to the stars from whence we originated to appease the Dragon in us. Dragons draw from the cosmos. The cosmos was our playground, and earth but a sandbox.
I steered her to Dracovar Prime. The first time I came, I was brought here in a sort of vacuum by the Dragons, as I was not advanced enough to come on my own. But Aruka was advanced enough and her quick adaptation quite amazed me.
As we entered our planetâs orange atmosphere, soaring on a downward trajectory through yellow clouds, our Dragon forms solidified.
Our language changed into an ancient fire Dragon dialect that seemed to come naturally with our body transformation.
âJuan! This is how we are meant to be,â she exclaimed soaring far ahead of me, then back making circles, testing her giant blue-black wings that shimmered under our three suns.
I liked it too. The first time I flew as a Dragon, even the word free falls short of such elation. I liked her better this way.
She flew up beside me. âOh, I shall like it here just fine!â
I led her then into the opening of the cavernous underground where my throne was located. Flying into the basalt chamber, I noticed Sardi and Jayde move from around the corner to see who entered. I landed not far from my tall black throne. Aruka landed next to me.
I ascended my kingly chair, my long spiked tail curled to my side, draping down to the floor.
Aruka came to stand beside my throne as if announcing somehow that she was special.
